Hooray I thought! Today was our annual Christmas Tree adventure – perfect time to take a yearly holiday picture of Avari (our 4 year old). So we got up and ready, only Avari had different plans than the beautiful scene I was imagining in my mind. Now that she is 4, she picks out her outfits, and had the perfect idea of what she wanted for her Christmas picture.

Oh. And did I mention, that she also decided that she wanted to be a cat.

Frost5blog Sometimes things don’t always go as planned…

Yes. A cat. Being the fact that I’m a professional, I had an initial panic and almost sent her upstairs to wipe it off. But I looked at how proud she was of her cat face, and the thought of what faces I’d get for pictures if I told her to wipe it off was enough to just let it go

C’est la vie!

FrostBlog1 Sometimes things don’t always go as planned…

Seeing her smiling face breaking through ice puddles, I definitely knew that we made the right decision!

Speaking of Christmas Trees! We’re relatively new to Powell River (hopefully one day we can become official residents!) and we’ve created our yearly tradition of going in to the forest (with a license and in the designated areas of course) and finding our own little tree to cut down. Being a city girl, this was a very fascinating idea for me and it’s stuck! Last year, it was a bit hairy trying to off road over “rivers” of ice, but this year we found the most perfect little tree.

So there was our little adventure. We got the perfect tree, spent the morning exploring frost that we rarely get to see, AND in my opinion (now) have the most perfect holiday picture. Because it tells a story and really that’s what photography is all about…

Lucy – Warm Fall Afternoon

November 17th, 2010

I met Lucy just over four years ago, and I didn’t realize how much she had grown up until I got a chance to look through the lens! The Steinman’s farm is an amazing backdrop for the beautiful golden fall light. This session was part of the school photo sessions we’re offering through PIE. If [...]

Don’t have a case of the Mundays!

November 15th, 2010

As winter approaches, sometimes a dreary, dark Monday morning can really kick off the week with a bit of the grumps. Hope this helps lighten the spirits! The kids wanted a turn to get their picture taken, after were were done with the super secret project from the afternoon. Thanks Jacob for cracking me up [...]

Remember sweet Nova from last week? I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph her again, this time adding in pictures of her and her Daddy! (He was called out of town for the last session, and we definitely wanted to get some with him and the whole family!). This time we had the most amazing goosebumpy-soft natural light filtering in to work with. LOVE!

So back to the goosebumps. I love the new tattoo, and the way the light is shining on her.

Nova – 6 weeks old

October 27th, 2010

Last weekend I had the opportunity to photograph 6 week old Nova. She is one of the strongest little ones I’ve had the pleasure to meet. (I think that she may be determined to stand already). Nova’s parents own Pair Bistro in Vancouver, and from the city they bring the most amazing sense of style! [...]

Kirsten and Owen’s mother Holly was the winner of the Salmon Society Silent Auction Gift Certificate at the beginning of the week, and we were able to squeeze in a session just before the storms started! It was a beautiful place to photograph with the setting sun, and I was even lucky enough to come home with some amazing new props (Thanks Holly!)

I’ve known the Sigouin family since our daughters were about a year old, so it was a treat to get to photograph them! We met in gymnastics drop in and now Avari and Paige have been in preschool together for just over a year.
